Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for leading the technical design, development and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems and provide enhancements to existing technologies. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees, and performing tasks of advanced technical depth and breadth.

The Senior Software Engineer collaborates with developers, architects, and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and conduct research to evaluate the application of new and emerging tools and techniques, identifying patterns and best practices to consider in technology proposals while anticipating long term business issues. The role devises new methods and procedures using strong analytic and inductive thinking, developing project plans based on appropriate standards and methodology.

Work arrangement

This is a hybrid role with an expectation to be in office at least 2 days per week in Chicago Downtown, rest of the days maybe remote.

What you will be doing

You will be joining CIBC’s Bank USA Application Development team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be building software solutions using languages and technologies of the .NET framework. You will create applications from scratch, configure existing systems and provide user support.

In this role, you should be able to write functional code with a sharp eye for spotting defects. You should be a collaborator and excellent communicator. If you are also enthusiastic about the .NET framework and software design/architecture, we would like to meet you.

Your goal will be to collaborate with internal teams to design, develop and maintain software.

Responsibilities

Participate in requirements analysis.

Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture.

Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages.

Requirements

7 years or more as a proven .NET Developer or Application Developer Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller (MVC)) Knowledge of at least one of the .NET languages (e.g. C#, Visual Basic .NET) and HTML5/CSS3 Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC) Understanding of Agile methodologies Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills Attention to detail BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Test and deploy applications and systems.

Revise, update, refactor and debug code.

Improve existing software.

Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Serve as an expert on applications and provide technical support.
