Financial Controller

For Vroon in Breda, we are exclusively seeking a proactive and experienced Financial Controller with a ‘can-do’ attitude for the Iver Ships in the maritime industry.

Responsibilities
As a Financial Controller for the Iver Ships (tankers) division, you will manage and lead a team of 2,8 FTE, set department goals together with the accounting manager and support with department planning strategies. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial reports, analysing and explaining the balances and results. You will work closely with the business controller. Furthermore, together with the other financial controller, you will further set up and update existing procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the Accounting Manager to set department goals and translating them into actionable plans for the team;
  • Supporting the Accounting Manager in developing department planning strategies.
  • Motivating, coaching, and reviewing team members to ensure goals, expectations, and agreements are consistently met;
  • Monitoring team performance and providing periodic reports to the Accounting Manager on the status of set goals, expectations, and agreements;
  • Supervising daily General Ledger, Closing & Reporting transactions, and month-end-closing activities in accordance with IFRS, local GAAP, and relevant regulations;
  • Leading a team of area specialists, managing accounting issues, analyzing errors, finding solutions, and initiating necessary corrections;
  • Assisting in preparing the monthly financial report, analyzing and explaining balances and results;
  • Initiating and implementing improvement projects and sharing best practices with colleagues;
  • Collaborating and building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including local operational business and business controlling;
  • Assisting with external audits and providing support as needed to the Accounting Manager.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial administration or auditing practice;
  • 32 – 40 hours available;
  • Excellent communication in English and social skills.
