The eCommerce Financial Accounting Benelux team is part of DHL business unit eCommerce and was created 10 years ago and grew rapidly from 5 to 44 colleagues. We are a team of enthusiastic colleagues and have a balanced mix in terms of diversity and inclusivity which enable us to continuously adapt to the growth of our cluster. Currently we are responsible for the Financial Accounting of three administrations within eCommerce Benelux. As the market shows rapid growth and is always changing a part of our day to day activities, we focus on innovative projects like RPA (Robotics Process Automation) and process improvements. Our Financial Accounting team is divided into four sub teams: Purchase to Pay, Record to Report (General Ledger, Treasury and Intercompany), RPA and functional support. We are close to the business and together we drive the success of DHL. Our team forms the backbone in the accuracy and completeness of the recording and reporting of millions of financial transactions.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

The Team Manager - Record to Report (RtR) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end Record to Report process within the eCommerce Benelux organization. This position involves leading a team of 6 GL professionals and providing indirect supervision to a subteam Treasury & Intercompany through a designated expert. The role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, team management and technical IT skills with ERP systems.

Key tasks:

• Lead and develop a team of 7 direct reports and 7 indirect reports fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Providing professional guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional development and performance.
• Guide and support the team to resolve day-to-day issues in service delivery such as complex reconciliations or complex accounting processes and you ensure the timely and proper follow up on issues escalated by the team.
• Oversee the entire Record to Report process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, implement best practices and translate business requirements in financial accounting and reporting.
• Ensure the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Perform detailed analysis on the financial figures and follow up with financial control and business where needed. Further prepare reporting to senior management.
• Maintain a strong control environment and deploy control mechanisms by ensuring adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any findings in a timely manner.
• Identify opportunities for process and service improvements within the Record to Report function, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
• Implement and champion automation initiatives to enhance the accuracy and speed of financial reporting.
• Being the business partner with financial control for changes in accounting standards, DHL accounting guidelines and draft guidelines and best practices.
• Oversee the Treasury and Intercompany processes and monitor the day-to-day business herein together with the Expert Treasury & Intercompany.
• Determine the roadmap and shape the future for Record to Report in alignment with the growth of DHL eCommerce Benelux.
• Able to lead the team in future system migration.
• Communicate with stakeholders and manage expectations.
• You report to the Head of Financial Accounting eCommerce Benelux.

Do you have what it takes?

To be able to thrive in this position you already have experience in leading teams for at least 3 years and more then 5 years of experience RtR/GL activities.

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Economics;
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS;
• Proficiency in Excel and Power BI;
• Hands-on experience with different ERP systems;
• Strong relationship / networking skills;
• Great organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills;
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
