As a Data Scientist you play an important role within the Data Science for Data Management team within the Chief Data Office department. You know the world of data and advanced analytics well, and within a short period of time you are able to link this to the complex data environment within ABN AMRO Bank. With your experience as an data scientist, you combine data science, data management and strong communicative skills to bring ABN AMRO Bank’s data management towards a higher level.

The Data Science for Data Management team is responsible for applying data science solutions to several components within the scope of data management. We work on a variety of high priority topics that are important to our department and to ABN AMRO Bank. Our main application is the Data Profiler, which generates enriched technical metadata called profiles of the bank’s datasets, in an automatic and data-driven way. These profiles can then be used to improve and accelerate our data sourcing-, data quality-, and data compliancy processes.

Your job

In ABN AMRO Bank, the Data Marketplace is the central place where data sourcing, data consumption, data quality and data governance come together. Your role focuses on developing and productionizing end-to-end solutions to improve the Data Marketplace and the processes that underlie it. This involves machine learning, as well as less conventional data science techniques. You will work together with other Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers and Product Owners. With these colleagues, you will take care of the full development cycle from exploring, experimenting and creating prototypes, to developing, benchmarking and testing models. All this you will integrate with the rest of the platform, which runs in the Azure cloud.

In your day-to-day work you will play a key role in making sure that the bank wide data strategy runs smoothly. You are the connector between data and our strategy, turning our Data into Value for our customers! Next to your day-to-day work you have the opportunity to explore and investigate our current data management processes and to suggest improvements based on your expertise as a Data Scientist. There is room to design, create and implement new processes especially when you are the one who is suggesting the change for the better!

As our Data Scientist you become a part of the core team responsible for overseeing the execution of the bank-wide Data Strategy. We work on a daily basis to ensure that we remain on track with our ambition to unlock the power of data. We do so in an open and transparent way of working. Your profile

• You have 5+ years of relevant work experience
• MSc in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Statistics or similar
• You have an interest in and experience with Data Management
• Programming experience: e.g. Python, Spark, SQL, etc. Experience with Databricks is a plus
• You have experience with Azure cloud
• You have a track-record in developing data science and machine learning solutions
• You are pragmatic and value-focused
• You are a team player that requires limited steering to be productive
• You work creatively, conscientiously and pragmatically
