As a Financial Risk Manager at de Volksbank, you will play a crucial role in managing and mitigating financial risks to protect the financial stability and growth of the organization. This position requires a flexible and strong personality, along with excellent writing skills, analytical capabilities, stakeholder management and a proactive, go-getter attitude. Additionally, the role requires an understanding of financial markets, financial products and risk management principles. Within this second line Risk Management department, you will be responsible for managing de Volksbank’s market risk and counterparty credit risk exposures. You will identify and analyse market trends, design risk frameworks, develop risk management strategies and provide insightful recommendations to (senior) management. In addition to market and counterparty credit risk, you will focus on de Volksbank’s Funds Transfer Pricing process.

With this vision in mind, you’ll be working at our Expertise Center Risk, the second line department of de Volksbank, covering all risk areas. As our Financial Risk Manager, you’ll strengthen our 2nd line Business Risk Team that’s responsible for Finance, Risk and Product Development which deals with both financial and non-financial risks. You will be engaged in a variety of subjects, where your main focus will be on market risk and counterparty credit risk (related to Financial Markets and Treasury) and Funds Transfer Pricing. You will review business proposals, design risk frameworks, develop risk management strategies, analyse market trends and provide recommendations to (senior) management.

Acting as a trusted advisor to (senior) management on a wide variety of risk-related issues and improvement programs is no stretch for you. Furthermore, you’ll maintain daily contact with stakeholders within the first line and cooperate with other colleagues within the second and third line about relevant internal and external developments that impact the risk profile. You will develop your risk management skills on a broader area with the help of highly experienced risk experts around you.

Your responsibilities at a glance:

  • Identify and evaluate potential financial risks.
  • Monitor market conditions, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to identify emerging risks.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies and frameworks aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Review business proposals on market risk, counterparty credit risk and cost/funds transfer pricing.
  • Design and implement controls and procedures to minimize financial risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure risk management practices are integrated effectively throughout the organization.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster cooperation and support for risk management initiatives.

You also have:

  • A university degree in (quantitative) finance or economics.
  • CFA, FRM or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Around 3 years risk management experience within a banking/financial institution or affinity with Treasury or FTP.
  • Being familiar with global financial markets and products.
  • Interest in regulatory criteria.
  • Strongly developed analytical skills and you can think conceptually. In addition, we consider persuasion, cooperation and self-organization as competencies important for this position.

You’ll be working for de Volksbank, the parent company of SNS, ASN Bank, RegioBank and BLG Wonen. The gross monthly salary for this position is between € 3.462 and € 6.061 (scale 9 or 10) based on 36 hours work week (gross annual is between €48.339 and €84.614 including 13th month en holiday allowance). In addition, you can count on:

  • 36-hour work week, for example 4x9, 32 hours can be discussed.
  • An individual choice budget (IKB), you can choose when you receive your vacation allowance and thirteenth month.
  • 208,8 holiday hours on full-time employment.
