We are currently recruiting for a Senior Audit Manager for our Internal Audit Division in Amsterdam .

As MBE Internal Audit, we operate in a dynamic and exciting environment. With a highly diverse, international and ambitious audit team, we perform audits across MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities, in Amsterdam and the EU branches (Spain, Germany, Austria and Belgium). You will lead and manage audits, covering all lines of business and collaborating closely with Senior Management from the 1st and 2nd Line, as well as our audit colleagues in London. You will have exposure to MUFG Executive Management across the globe, as such, our audit reports have a significant audience and potential impact. The role also offers you a chance for international rotations as part of the new MUFG One Audit Programme.

Internal Audit operates as the bank’s third line, and in accordance with the global institute of internal auditors international standards (IIA standards), provides independent assurance and advice to the board and executive management on the quality and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls to monitor manage and mitigate key risks to achieving the bank’s objectives.

The role includes the following:

  • Leading the planning, execution and reporting of a variety audits.
  • Supporting the MBE chief auditor and head of audit in maintaining accurate and complete audit universe sections, risk assessments and appropriate risk-based assurance plans to cover these risks.
  • Assisting with strategy and approach papers for entities and risks within the portfolio, as directed.
  • Delivering continuous monitoring assignments for agreed entities. Maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders so that audit planning and delivery is achieved smoothly and professionally.
  • Leading audit engagements to the required methodology standards. May have responsibility for multiple engagements concurrently.
  • Ensuring that the quality of the audit report and documentation meets quality assurance criteria, all audits are executed and reported to Management within the agreed timelines.
  • Providing ongoing feedback during and at the end of each engagement; escalate any performance related issues. May include line managing and coaching team members.
  • Supporting the implementation of best practice throughout the team by maintaining a strong understanding of relevant audit methodology.
  • Displaying a strong appreciation of risk and control in banking.
  • Coordinating management action plans directly with stakeholders. This may involve the testing of remediated controls and closure of audit issues.
  • Assisting the head of audit in preparing third party submissions for the chief auditor as relevant.
  • Working collaboratively with all internal audit colleagues regionally and globally.
  • From time to time, may also be required to take a team role in non-‘BAU’ initiatives e.g. a working group.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Certified auditor with professional qualification in Operational Audit (RO / CIA), Financial Audit (RA / CFA) and / or IT Audit (RE / CISA).
  • Wide practical experience across financial services disciplines, particularly in areas that have been subject to change. International, cross border and cross section experience is preferred with a broad understanding and feel of the various local audit requirements.
  • Knowledge of key relevant legal, regulatory and statutory requirements and a good awareness of ongoing regulatory changes, technical interpretation and the ability to provide advice.
  • High level of personal independence and a strong ability to critically challenge information and the status quo.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to engage with Senior MBE Management and other MBE stakeholders across the bank on a regular basis.
  • Complex problem solving skills.
  • Business fluency in English and experience in an international work environment. An understanding of the Dutch language and culture is helpful. Experience with Japan or the Japanese corporate culture is desirable.

  • Gross salary based on experience and consistent with the market
  • 8% holiday allowance and 13th month payment.
  • Bonus under discretion of the Management board (max. 20%)

  • Commuting allowance based on annual public transport 2nd class, most economical way, or € 0,21 per km with a max of 75km one way.
  • €5,00 net remote working compensation per day, with a maximum of €60,00 per month.
