The Opportunity

We are on the lookout for a skilled Design Assurance Engineer to join our team at the Dutch Defense Design Engineering office!

As the Design Assurance Engineer, you support the Design Assurance Manager to ensure the seamless implementation, maintenance and independent monitoring of the Design Assurance System at NL Defense Design Engineering based in Papendrecht. This dedicated professional also extends support to all matters pertaining to Airworthiness and Product Safety within the realm of design assurance procedures.

Beyond this, the Design Assurance Engineer actively contributes to the formulation and execution of a unified and coherent set of processes and procedures tailored to the unique demands of Defense programs. This involves close collaboration with key stakeholders in the local Quality Management System (QMS) to facilitate the seamless integration and ongoing maintenance of NL Defense Design Office processes and procedures within the local Quality Management Systems.

The key responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, execution and maintenance of the overall Design Assurance System, in line with the regulatory and customer requirements,
  • Liaise with local Quality Management System (QMS) responsible to support the integration and maintenance of relevant processes and procedures in local QMS,
  • Ensure consistency and regulatory compliance (e.g. EMAR 21) of the Design Assurance System (e.g. MDOM and its associated appendices),
  • Monitor, document and provide regular reports to stakeholders, incl. Management, Customers, Partners and Aviation Authorities, on the adherence to the Design Assurance System,
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, leading or participating in investigations to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement,
  • Execute and/or coordinate quality assurance audits in accordance with surveillance plans and annual audit schedules,
  • Actively support both internal & external audits, taking the lead in investigating non-compliances to the Quality and/or Design requirements, and initiate and coordinate corrective actions stemming from thorough reviews and audits,
  • Play a pivotal role in Airworthiness and Product Safety matters in relationto design assurance procedures.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in an engineering and/or quality related field,
  • 5+ years' experience within Design Engineering and Quality environments, preferably within Aerospace,
  • Proven expertise in applying ISO 9001, AS9100 and Aviation Regulations (EMAR-21, JMAAN-21J, EASA-21G/J and 145, FAA, etc.),
  • In-depth understanding of quality processes is a key strength,
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement systems qualifications (e.g. Green belt) is a plus,
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change would be appreciated,
  • Proficiency in executing internal audits in the capacity of an AS(EN)9100 Auditor is a plus,
  • Demonstrates independence, analytical thinking, initiative, and commitment to quality,
  • Collaborates effectively and is results-driven,
  • Possesses the ability to influence individuals across all organizational levels,
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and decision making capabilities,
  • Communicative with good presentation and interpersonal skills,
  • Fluency in English.

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.507,- and 5.658,- depending onyour knowledge and experience,
  • 8% holiday allowance,

  • Working conditions according to the CAO Metalektro, including an excellent pension scheme (PME) and travel allowance,
