About the job

As Senior Legal Counsel at R&I, you’ll be responsible for:

• Securing Danone's innovative assets and competitive advantage and ensure Danone's ownership of IP rights in our products.
• Designing and implementing the framework for the clinical studies and collaborative research and securing the collection and management of personal data.
• Protect Danone's reputation by ensuring that our relations with health care professionals and key opinion leaders complies with Danone standards.
• Promote the awareness of innovation and related good practices within Danone.

Objectives of the role:

• Provide Legal Support
• Share best practices, legal expertise, and legal advice to ensure optimal efficiency and efficacy in our R&I activities and projects.
• Draft, negotiate and validate all needed R&I agreements (service, collaboration, research, clinical studies, development and partnership agreements).
• Partner with procurement teams on purchase of goods and services for R&I.
• Secure IP
• Secure IP protection for all R&I activities and confidentiality in all activities and interactions with third parties.
• Provide legal support on any project involving intellectual property creation or related to intellectual property (licenses, IP assignments, co-ownership agreements, etc.).
• Ensure Compliance in our R&I activities
• Secure DANONE R&I license to operate guaranteeing we act in conformity with compliance rules and Danone business code of conduct
• Ensure the application of social and environmental fundamental principles, as well as the ethical code of business conduct of Danone which include Compliance rules (HCS Directive, Code of Conduct, GDPR internal policies...).
• Capture all initiatives related to growth and provide legal support to R&I teams.
• Deploy compliance policies within R&I to secure the business in an agile manner.
• Guiding Danone through competitive landscape resulting from product development and innovation in an open environment and in transversal way (partnerships, public funding's, Start-ups, Digital tools...).
• Combination of operational/legal and strategical support.

Main interactions:

The Legal R&I Counsel works in a transversal environment, in coordination with R&I teams, Corporate Compliance, Data Privacy, Finance and Procurement, legal within WBU's and CBU's teams, Trademarks and Patents teams. The Legal R&I Counsel works also with External stakeholders such as Law Firms, Service providers such as Database, Admin, searches, CRO, Universities, Start-ups, Scientists and researchers (KOL and KOF) and in certain cases authorities.

About you

About you

You’re a legal expert in GDPR and have scientific knowledge with focus on clinical studies and intellectual property . You’re also a strong communicator and have solid negotiation skills .

You’ll also have the following background:

• University Law degree (Master)
• At least 6 years of proven experience in related field
• Fluent in English bothwritten and spoken, Dutch is preferred
• Deep knowledge in GDPR and contract drafting and negotiation
• Critical skills: eye to detail, proactive, flexible, ability to identify issues and to timely escalate them, solution oriented, ability to handle multiple projects at once, and to deal with pressure.
