We are currently recruiting for an Enterprise Risk Manager, Risk Affairs for our Risk Management Division in Amsterdam .

The MBE subsidiary based in The Netherlands is a network of branches (Germany Branch (Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich), Spain Branch (Madrid, Barcelona), Belgium Branch (Brussels), Austria Branch (Vienna)), managed from Amsterdam.

The Risk Affairs role within Enterprise Risk Management directly supports CRO (50%) and a broader ERM team agenda (50%). The role supports CRO with internal communication, project management and a broader risk domain agenda, ensures delivery risk reports for the Management Board and the Supervisory Board, and performs RMC secretary role.

This is a very visible function in the organization, ability to work with and manage senior stakeholders across the bank, both locally and across EMEA, is a key. This role requires an experienced person with a good understanding of risk governance and bank wide risk management processes in a licensed banking institution.

Consultation and others

Participating in internal and/or external consultation platforms (either on an ad hoc or permanent basis) regarding Risk Infrastructure:

  • RMC (Risk Management Committee) – secretary role
  • Risk Concilium (monthly Risk/Compliance forum on top risks)
  • Regular alignments and interaction with EMEA wide ERM functions in London

Enterprise Risk Management Department (ERM) is supporting the Head of RMD and the Chief Risk Officer to implement an effective risk governance framework, and providing a holistic view of the risks MUFG is facing in the EU. ERM is playing a central role in the integration of risks to ensure a holistic risk management at MBE. The Department develops MBE’s Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement, coordinates ICLAAP and Recovery Plan, covers integrated risks, and manages the risk infrastructure and risk data.

In addition, ERM provides an advising role to the first line of defense in formalizing control environment by combining understanding of MBE’s risk strategy, corporate banking, risk management, regulatory environment, and wider economic and political factors which may impact MBE’s business.

Enterprise Risk Management organizationally consists of 6 coverage areas: Governance, Resilience, Integrated Risks, ESG risks, Risk Affairs and Risk Infrastructure. This role is covering Risk Affairs.

ERM is part of the Risk Management Division (RMD) and organizationally reports to the Head of RMD, which in turn reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Enterprise Risk Manager, Risk Affairs reports to the Head of ERM, who acts as a team lead.

The role includes the following:

  • Support CRO with internal communication, project management, and preparation of presentations and reports.
  • Actively supports CRO in day-to-day activities related to CRO domain topics and agenda
  • Ownership of the Secretary Role for the Risk Management Committee, including preparing agenda, collecting and reviewing materials, prepare meeting minutes and manage action points with Stakeholders;
  • Preparation of internal/external audits, regulatory inspections and HO visits/queries, act as central liaise risk person at MBE and coordinate information requests;
  • Coordination and drafting risk reports for the Management Board (monthly) and the Supervisory Board (quarterly);
  • Leading risk activities and drafting risk sections of Annual Report and Pillar 3 Reports;
  • Propose & develop process improvements and innovations around MI reporting, internal committees, project, and develop/own respective procedure(s);
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within MBE and across EMEA;
  • Support the Head of ERM in a wider ERM agenda, including but not limited to ad-hoc projects, SREP/ICLAAP, Risk Appetite, risk governance topics, and support other internal committees/risk oversight forums/working groups;

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Academic (master) degree in a relevant field of study, MBA or professional qualification (e.g. CFA/FRM) is an advantage.
  • Fluent language skills in English.
  • Experience in preparing presentations to senior management and regulators.
  • Experience of working across departments and functional fields.
  • Experience with dealings with senior management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Power Point, Excel and Word applications.
  • Ability to challenge and ask good questions.
  • Ability to have a holistic view on Bank’s risk profile.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of risk governance and risk processes in a licensed banking institution.
  • Proficiency in writing and editing policy and procedural documents.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Power BI.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, building rapport with Risk and Business functions a is key in this role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to explain a complex topic in a structured and clear manner.
  • Proactive self-starter, able to handle a diverse workload.
  • Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Think independently and critically to create own views.
