Acorn, part of Rabobank, is combatting climate change in a transparent, honest and traceable way by helping farmers in Latin America, Asia and Africa make the transition to “agroforestry”, a regenerative agricultural practice whereby farmers plant trees around or among their main crops. Acorn already helps more than 200,000 farmers to improve their livelihoods. But Acorn is aiming for millions. In order to help facilitate scaling-up Acorn’s local partners, a separate financing entity outside of Rabobank has been established: Smallholder Agroforestry Finance BV (SAF). SAF is a purpose-driven enterprise that offers innovative financing solutions to support smallholder farmers and combat climate change. The purpose of SAF is to provide funding and technical assistance to organizations (e.g. NGO’s and cooperatives) working with smallholder farmers in order to start agroforestry projects. In doing so, SAF contributes to improving the livelihoods of these small-scale farmers as well as increase biodiversity and improve food security. In addition, the trees planted sequester CO2 from the atmosphere. You and your job As a seasoned Finance, Risk and Control professional you will look for opportunities how to increase SAF’s impact. You are the person at the center of risk, compliance and finance. You enjoy mapping SAF costs, doing first-line checks as well as collaborating on impact reporting. Your work contributes to the success of SAF. It is a start-up company with all the dynamics that go with it. You will combine your knowledge of compliance, risk and finance in one position. Both strategic thinking and operational hands-on experience come together in this position. You and your talent Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. agricultural finance or economics). Professional experience in Finance and Accounting, Compliance and Risk; You are able to solve Finance & Accounting issues and prepare annual accounts and (impact) reports; You are able to advice about risks and compliance issues and conducting first-line checks Excellent command of the English language; other languages can be an advantage. Affinity with impact finance, specific client situations, emerging markets and blended/structured finance. Professional ownership and independence to come up with inventive solutions in the fields of Finance, Risk, Compliance This is what we offer you up to € 5.811,- gross per month (scale 9); a thirteenth month and holiday pay an extra budget of 11% of your gross salary to be used at your discretion.
