The Holdings team is part of the Corporate Financial Center of Aegon Ltd. The primary objective of the Corporate Financial Center is to provide Aegon's Board of Directors and Executive Committee with meaningful (non-) financial information (e.g. capital, income, balance sheet, sales etc.) to support the board's decision making process and deliver legally required reporting.

To help to achieve this objective, the Holdings team provides IFRS, Economic Framework and capital information on a quarterly basis for the Holding entities, including the Treasury entities, to its stakeholders. Furthermore, the department maintains the books and records of holding companies in The Hague, Budapest, and Hong Kong. The Holdings team works closely together with other Corporate Center departments and business units. In this role, you are the main contact person for suppliers with regards to payment information and you are in contact with various departments to ensure the correct approvals. Moreover, you are responsible for the VAT administration and ad-hoc questions.

Position in the organization

The Expense Accounting & Control Officer reports to the Head of Holdings and Treasury Control.

Purpose of the job

The Expense Accounting & Control Officer is accountable and responsible for maintaining a proper payroll administration. This includes managing suspense accounts, reconciling discrepancies and booking all payroll related journal entries. Moreover, you are the linking pin with the HR department when it comes to thoroughly understanding all payroll entries and regulations.

In addition, you are responsible for the accounts payable administration of Aegon Asset Management. You ensure accurate and timely invoice processing, payments, and communicate with suppliers. You answer supplier inquiries efficiently and professionally.

Activities
  • Review and process incoming and outgoing (intercompany) invoices;
  • Ensure proper accounting of (intercompany) invoices;
  • Ensure authorized payments of invoices;
  • Manage the VAT administration;
  • Manage the suspense accounts related to the payroll administration;
  • Prepare appropriate specifications of suspense accounts;
  • Perform a reliable monthly and quarterly close including accrual setting;
  • Handling queries and questions from budget holders and project owners;
  • Preparing ad hoc reports when required.
Know-how
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or economics;
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years as an expense accountant / expense officer or in a relevant similar role;
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders;
  • Good knowledge of English language;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting;
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and (Dutch) financial regulations;
  • Experienced Excel-user and proficient in using accounting software.
