Job Description

The Senior Director, Commercial Counsel will manage a team of transaction attorneys and legal professionals and will provide advice and assistance on a range of legal matters impacting EMEA & LATAM. This position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and will report to the Vice President Legal - EMEA & LATAM. This position will be part of a fast-moving and collaborative team focused on the go-to-market aspect of the business, including closing complex transactions and developing our technology agreements, partner programs, and training materials. This position will work closely with sales, business operations, deals desk, revenue, finance, and other cross-functional teams, and will be a critical resource for colleagues in EMEA & LATAM and globally. Ideal candidates are proactive, solutions-driven, and independent with a track record of leading successful teams of attorneys and legal professionals.

Your Impact

  • Develop and drive comprehensive, long-term legal strategies for the company’s go to market business in EMEAL
  • Lead, manage and mentor the EMEAL team of transactional attorneys and legal professionals
  • Set goals to help the team navigate our dynamic business environment across a wide and diverse customer base
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal professionals globally to drive positive outcomes aligned with the company’s goals
  • Identify, evaluate and mitigate business and legal risks in transactions and processes
  • Advise EMEAL teams on the regulatory landscape to reduce risk by ensuring that our employees, processes, and agreements comply with law
  • Develop and deliver training on a variety of commercial, legal and compliance topics
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, policies, and legal processes
  • Handle additional tasks and special projects as needed

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 15+ years of commercial transaction experience with a minimum of 5 years in-house
  • Qualified to practice in at least one European Union jurisdiction
  • Proven and and measurable track record leading teams of attorneys and legal professionals in various jurisdictions in EMEAL
  • Comprehensive experience advising clients on structuring complex technology transactions
  • Extensive experience with data protection / privacy requirements
  • Exceptional leadership, management, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams and manage numerous complex projects simultaneously under tight deadline pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, and strategic thinking
  • Flexibility to work on a broad variety of legal matters
  • Experience in cyber security, public sector and financial services is a plus
  • Fluent in English with strong drafting skills
  • Second EU language strongly preferred
