Legal Counsel Europe & Africa (Wholesale & Rural)

As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in providing high quality legal transaction support to the business in the Europe & Africa region.

You and your job

Imagine working in a team that contributes to the growth and strategy of Rabobank Europe & Africa by supporting the activities of the region with high-quality legal expertise together with effective legal risk management for the bank. Your role would involve working with the business to analyze and develop products and services, provide legal advice and support on transactions, identify and address the associated (legal) risks and issues, and share your knowledge with colleagues over a broad range of business and staff departments. An average working day

Are you curious about what would be on your to-do list on an average working day? Your day-to-day activities may include:

  • Keeping control of the legal risks and legal framework for the bank with respect to financing structures;
  • Being a sparring partner for your fellow team members and colleagues in various business departments, both within Region Europe & Africa and beyond;
  • Accurately identifying potential issues and risks;
  • Drafting legal documentation;
  • Coordinating, negotiating and overseeing transactions;
  • Keeping up with the latest legal developments and applying it in daily practice;
  • Cooperating with colleagues from different disciplines (e.g. Compliance and Risk) throughout the bank.

Focus on this position

Your primary focus is expected to be on delivering transaction support in syndicate and bilateral financing transactions (e.g. leveraged and corporate lending, export finance) for Core Lending, Project Finance and/or Asset Based Finance.

You and your talent

Customer focus, pro-activeness, organizational sensitivity and decisiveness are essential for this position. We are also looking for the following qualifications:

  • Masters of Law, preferably Dutch or English law qualified;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in corporate or leveraged lending, asset based finance and/or project finance;
  • Excellent command of the English language.

This is what we offer you

  • An attractive benefits package that fits in scale 8 or 9 (between €3.518,06 and €5.811,03gross a year) including 13th month and holiday pay, depending on experience and seniority;
  • €750.00 budget to set up your home workplace and up to €40.00 for working from home allowance per month;
  • Personal budget of €1.400 to spend on activities related to your personal development and career;
  • Thirteenth month's salary and 8% holiday allowance;
  • An Employee Benefit Budget (EBB) of 10% or 11% of your gross salary to be used at your discretion. Buy extra holiday hours, add more to your pension savings or ask for part of the extra budget to be paid out;
  • Flexible working times and hybrid location-independent working within the limits dictated by working in a team (#LI-Hybrid);
  • 100% reimbursement of commuting costs if you travel by public transport;
  • A pension scheme to which you contribute 5%.
