Junior Business Controller

Would you like to help shape the Finance department within Nearfield Instruments?

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 170 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.

What will you be doing?

As a Junior Business Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting the business planning and analysis activities of the company. Reporting to the head of business controlling you will assist in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on financial and business performance to drive informed decision-making process.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

Financial Analysis

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, budget vs actuals variance analysis, and forecasts.
  • Analyze key financial metrics and provide insights into business performance.

    Budgeting and Forecasting

    • Collaborate with various departments to gather budget inputs and support the budgeting process.
    • Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial forecasts.

      Monthly Reporting

      • Generate monthly financial statements and reports for management review.
      • Highlight key financial trends, variances, and areas of concern.

        Cost Control

        • Monitor and analyze cost structures of the company’s products to identify opportunities for cost optimization.
        • Work with operational teams to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

          Financial Modelling

          • Support the development and maintenance of financial models to aid in decision-making.
          • Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess potential risks and opportunities.

            Ad Hoc Analysis

            • Undertake special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by management.
            • Provide support for strategic initiatives through financial modelling and analysis.

              Compliance

              • Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.
              • Assist in internal and external audit processes.

                What do we require from you?

                Startups can provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but can also be a hectic environment at times. You must fit in such a climate and don’t mind to constantly implement changes and process improvements, to go the extra mile on a regular basis and feel comfortable with some uncertainty.

                • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
                • MBA is a big plus.
                • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
                • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
                • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
                • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
                • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
                • Relevant 2 to 3 years experience in finance is a plus.
                • Curios about high-tech, cutting-edge technology, preferably semiconductors industry is considered to be a big plus.
