Credit Model Consultant

As a Credit Model Consultant in Strategy & Oversight team, you are responsible for overseeing the credit model landscape of Rabobank from a variety of angles, ranging from model strategy to regulatory and economic capital. You get energy from engaging with a diverse set of stakeholders and have discussions around model scope, capital add-ons, and model change notifications. Additionally, you are responsible for drawing up communication materials for interactions with Rabobank’s senior management (including Managing and Supervisory Boards) and the regulator (Joint Supervisory Team and European Central Bank).


Practical Examples

  • Coordinate discussion around model scope which lead to mutually exclusive partitioning of the model landscape
  • Be the gatekeeper for model change notifications to the regulator
  • Prepare regular reporting on the performance of credit risk rating systems, as part of Credit Risk Control Unit

Top responsibilities

  • Drive credit model strategic decisions in line with the risk appetite and capital targets of Rabobank
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly communication material to senior management and the regulator that provides updates on model redevelopments and implementation
  • Oversee and challenge the capital add-ons, that are imposed to mitigate deficiencies in credit risk rating systems, from regulatory and economic perspective

You and your talent

You are good at connecting dots, and you know when to dig deep and when to zoom out. You can process large amount of information and produce actionable insights. In addition to that, you:

  • Hold a master’s or PhD degree in a relevant area such as Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Actuarial Sciences or a comparable field;
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in banking, supervision or consulting in the field credit risk;
  • Have sound knowledge of credit risk parameters, regulatory capital modelling/calculation, credit risk management and the landscape that Rabobank operates in;
  • Are an independent thinker with a creative and proactive mindset, but you also value collaboration and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, with a focus on delivering feasible solutions;
  • Are capable of driving discussions involving different stakeholders with different viewpoints and priorities;
  • Are not afraid to dive into technical and/or regulatory material and know your way around;
  • Have strong communication skills in technical and non-technical environments;
  • Have an excellent command of English;
  • Previous experience with regulator is a plus.
