Sr Advisor Strategy & Sustainability

Group Strategy is our bank’s strategy consulting department and the strategic accelerator of our bank. Banking is undergoing fundamental changes, driven by societal, economic and tech developments. Evolving customer and other stakeholder expectations require anticipation and proactivity and our team is instrumental in positioning ABN AMRO for the future. Group Strategy initiates and supports strategic projects with high relevance for all Client Units, from Personal and Corporate banking to Wealth management. Projects, varying from Sustainability transitions to M&A, are conducted in teams with business and functions colleagues, in close cooperation with top management. Strategy & Innovation reports directly to the CEO of ABN AMRO.

Your job

As one of the senior specialists in the Group Strategy team (besides the pool of generalist consultants/analysts), you can participate in a variety of strategic assessments and projects. Your specific role is to help the bank navigate through aligning its strategy and business model to the requirements and opportunities arising from the bank's 'Sustainability transition' and its shift in steering not only on financial performance but also on its much wider 'Value Creating Topics', which reflect the key expectations our stakeholders have for a bank like ours. You will work on meeting regulatory (reporting) requirements, and also on identifying and capturing commercial opportunities in the 'transition economy', impacting all our client segments and all sectors in which they operate. All in all you are instrumental to supporting our clients' transition to sustainability; one of the key pillars in ABN AMRO's strategy.

You will work closely with the wider strategy team, as well as colleagues in the Sustainability Center of Excellence (SCE), in the Business, in Finance and in Risk. As the Sustainability transition (driven a.o. by the EU's CSRD) as well as the steering on Value Creating Topics, are growing in importance and in scope, we seek an experienced strategy & sustainability consultant to help structure this and create clear structural linkages to our strategy development and business model.

Knowledge and experience

  • Excellent academic track record; Master’s degree with a quantitative component preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience at a Top Tier Consulting firm, in a Corporate Strategy team, or in a high-impact quantitative Sustainability role
  • Deep understanding of Financial Institutions, and the impact of Sustainability (laws, regulations, transition opportunities) on FIs and their clients
  • Demonstrable affinity with sustainability (reporting) regulations and guidelines, including e.g. NFRD/CSRD, ECB CER, EBA (ESG Risks), the EU Taxonomy for sustainable activities and/or demonstrable affinity with sustainable business development
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with project leadership
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to speak and understand Dutch, or willingness to learn within the first few months

  • A gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including benefit budget. A 40-hour work week is also possible. Salary scale is based on knowledge, experience and the potential you bring
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month
  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000
  • Possibility to work from home part of the week (in consultation with your team)
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands
