About the Innovations department

The Production & Assembly team is part of the Innovations Department and is responsible for transforming technical specifications into products that are certified, reliable and of excellent quality. Moreover, the team oversees the Production Facility in Rotterdam and the accompanying framework to facilitate a safe working environment. The current team consists of Production Engineers, Production Mechanics, a Draftsman, a Production Coordinator and an Assembly Supervisor. Recently, a dedicated sub-team was added fully focusing on managing and improving our Ampelmann designs to make sure drawings and specifications are up-to-date and readily available for re-production.

In this role you will report to the Manager Production & Assembly.

Your role as (Jr.) Production Engineer

As a (Jr.) Production Engineer, you turn theory (drawings and specifications) into practice (a fully functioning and certified Ampelmann system). In this role, you are in the lead in managing the manufacturing, the assembly, the testing and the certification processes until acceptance of the system. The product can be a one-off, an innovation or a line product, but in any case, you keep all stakeholders involved and you anticipate easily on possible windfalls and setbacks. In this role, you use your technical and practical knowledge when defining and reviewing the system specifications while you also rely on your project management skills to ensure that all involved (internal & external) are working according to your plan.

Apart from the projects you lead and/or participate in, you take co-ownership and actively work on improving our technical specifications and the designs of our standard products.

Regular activities

  • Review and accept technical specifications and drawings.
  • Plan and manage the entire process of purchasing, manufacturing, assembly and testing.
  • Get all stakeholders to commit to your plan and share regular progress updates.
  • Kick-off suppliers, contractors and the assembly team.
  • Quickly adapt to unforeseen situations. When needed, perform technical analysis yourself (e.g., trial & error, root cause analysis).
  • Identify and follow-up on potential design and process improvements.

We ask

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar and 2–5 years relevant work experience
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, time, and quality
  • Proven experience in complex stakeholder management
  • Analytical skills, among which ability to prioritise, solve problems efficiently and keep a clear overview of all work
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)

You get

  • A great work environment with innovative and change-willing aspirations.
  • High degree of responsibility and room to have significant impact.
  • A gross monthly salary of EUR 3.246 – 4.966, based on your experience.
  • Good secondary benefits (e.g. unlimited vacation days, annual bonus, Working from Home policy, non-contributory pension plan, and more).
  • Ampelmann Academy for all your personal and professional development needs.
