General Ledger Accountant - EMEA

Kao's EMEA Financial Shared Service Centre (FSSC) was established in 2017 and is based in Amersfoort. The FSSC takes care of the bookkeeping and accounting of 18 Kao entities across EMEA.

The role:

As GL accountant, you will be part of the Internal reporting GL team. In this position, you are responsible for the Month End Closing Activities within EMEA. You will work closely with our Controllers, Financial Planning and Analysis Team, and interact within the GL Teams, also with AP, AR and MDM department. Also, you will be encouraged to improve our internal reporting processes and work independently to reach our Finance goals.
As the FSSC is continuously improving and changing, you may also take on other GL tasks. To further develop your skills, job rotation within the GL teams will be supported.

What you will do – GL related:
· Responsible for all month end activities and month end journal entries for assigned processes/entities maintained by the SSC.
· Maintains a month end checklist and accurately records monthly accruals and prepayments.
· Assists in calculating allocation of group costs and generates appropriate journals and invoices to ensure allocations to the correct cost centers take place.
· Ensures consistency and completeness of data transfers between sub-ledgers and General Ledger.
· Reviews inter-company accounts, involving communication with other business locations worldwide.
· Ensures that all GL accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
· Manages fixed assets master data; new assets creation, disposals, depreciation, reconciliation of fixed assets to the general ledger, etc.
· Enhances existing processes and helps his/her manager to develop continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.
· Assist with statutory accounting at year-end and provide input for the annual audit
· Assist/Work on other tax filings and statistical surveys
· Other ad hoc support to the department
What you need:
  • Fluent English skills (also preferably one other EU language)
  • HBO degree (high professional education), or work experience at this level
  • 5+ years of professional experience in GL Functions
  • ERP system experience (preferably SAP)
  • Advanced Excel skills
