The Head of Technology will oversee the technical strategy, program delivery, and technical operations across various global corporate technology portfolios. This role encompasses significant leadership responsibilities, including serving on executive steering committees and handling a substantial annual budget. The role is a hybrid with the flexibility to work virtually and from our Amsterdam or Rotterdam office.

What the day will look like

The position requires supporting global, regional, and local leadership to bring technology solutions across Aon. You will support international business lines (including Risk Capital and Human Capital), regional cross-functional leadership teams, shared operations, and global technology teams. Key partners for this role include EMEA CEO/COO/CFO, Global CTO/CSO/SL COOs, and the regional technology leaders across EMEA.

Lead and work as a global team with shared priorities across global, regional and local. The role will lead to significant change while working as a team to simplify the sophisticated, lead trade-offs, and serve clients and colleagues while having a high impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for partnering with regional COOs and regional leadership to deploy and drive the adoption of global and regional technologies.
  • Accountable for representing EMEA regional requirements in global product delivery where applicable through differentiating international standards from regional requirements and local regulatory needs
  • Responsible for local and regional applications, including roadmap development to drive application retirement, lifecycle management, and enhancements.
  • Work closely with teams to drive the deployment of global products, platforms, and services.
  • Contribute to developing roadmap development with Product owners to ensure regional and country requirements are included in the product roadmap.
  • Advocate for the adoption of leverage capabilities and products across regions.
  • Align with global governance, architecture, and standards to deliver consistent solutions.
  • Primary POC for all "things" technology in the region.
  • Ensure joint initiatives are set up for success and align with the corporate strategy.
  • Communicate with business leadership to evaluate joint initiatives and proposals to see how they align with established roadmaps and business priorities.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Experience in leading a regional technology team in a global organization, navigating priorities, including application delivery, infrastructure, and technology operations.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture to map technology needs to existing capabilities to deliver requirements to clients and colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to articulate business requirements into technology requirements.
  • Drive business value through technology.
  • Highly skilled in negotiating and problem-solving skills through consistent collaboration.
  • Ability to positively influence others and to break down organizational silos focusing on business value results instead of solutions.
  • Strong writing, speaking, and presenting skills.
  • Budget management, compensation management, local budgeting of finance, and HR management of the team.
