Our client is one of Europe’s major centres for logistics and transportation, accommodating millions of travellers annually and playing a significant role in the dynamic Dutch economy. 

They are now hiring and are looking for a Cost Engineer (Construction) to join their hub in Schiphol. 

In the role, you will be dedicated to ensuring and safeguarding reliable cost management for the project portfolio of clients. 

Please note: A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) must be obtained and an AIVD screening will be conducted

Job Profile for   Cost Engineer (Construction)
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintain and improve the cost database repository
  • Prepare the category team to conduct price negotiations with suppliers by verifying supplier cost estimates. Assist and create supportive fact-pack documents 
  • Conduct outside-in analyses of project costs
  • Provide training to internal stakeholders
  • Implement and improve the company’s methods and standards
  • Support quality, cost and planning efficiency programs
  • Perform competitive project teardowns and conduct independent project or service cost estimates, plus generate and discuss value engineering ideas with the relevant stakeholders 
  • Create cost indications and estimates for B2 and C projects
  • Maintain cost repository and estimation cost model
  • Verify costs of all projects with construction companies
  • Identify and realise cost efficiencies
  • Benchmark costs against other companies

Candidate Profile for Cost Engineer (Construction)

  • Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
  • Bachelor or equivalent diploma in Construction or Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Working experience with management reporting and business analyses, possibly also financial control, preferably within an international environment
  • Have wide-ranging knowledge using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve challenging issues in effective ways
  • Distinguished by additional specialised knowledge in breadth and/or depth
  • Proven expert-level knowledge of company projects and services
  • Intelligent and able to digest complex information, see trends, analyse data
