Robeco has recently partnered with our Executive Search brand, OV Search, to secure a new Head of Technology. As one of the largest asset managers in the Netherlands, Robeco has around €180bn AUM, offices across 15 countries and combines a long history of innovative investment products with advanced technology and a commitment to sustainable investment.

Robeco are looking for a passionate and motivated individual who can help execute their ambitious strategic plan for technology, including the upgrade of their front office architecture, and the introduction of advanced data analytics technologies (based around Snowflake) to inform both investment strategies and wider business processes, and a largescale cloud transformation. 

The successful hire will most likely have: 

• A background in asset management (institutional or retail investment management) or an adjacent industry such as wealth management, private banking, or investment banking. 
• Front office experience is key and an understanding of trends in asset management business is desirable. 
• Breadth of technology experience is required – specific experience in Data, Analytics, Quant, AI, &/or Azure would be beneficial. 
• Passion for technology and the latest technology developments, and experience with Agile and DevOps frameworks. 
• Experience in managing teams of some scale, and workforce transformation (to support “new world” technology).
• A good academic background in computer science or a science discipline most likely including a master’s degree.
• Robeco has a strong commitment to DE&I – diversity is an important criterion in the selection. 

The successful hire will have the credibility, relationship and communication skills from working at the Head of level or C level. Culture is collegial, non-hierarchical, pragmatic and hands-on, with delegated decision-making and good life/work balance.

The role requires 3dpw (minimum) at the head office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The client is very open to someone of calibre from London, or other continental European or other locations.

Robeco employs approximately 65 staff in technology, and with outsourced technology staff a total of 200+ FTE; the technology budget is €50+ mn pa. The internal staff are focussed on development (infrastructure is outsourced) with a mix of vendor applications and bespoke development of analytics and other differentiating functions.
