As Director of Finance & Risk, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to establish, improve, and ensure indisputable financial accounting and reporting processes. In doing so, you will support the Executive Board and Business with relevant, clear, and reliable insights, balancing value creation and rewards with a prudent risk appetite strategy. As a Director of Finance & Risk, you have a key position in maintaining and progressing the financial well-being of the organization.

The Position:

The organization is progressive, ambitious, and plays a significant role in its sector. However, they must also prepare for the future by updating their processes and systems. The journey towards becoming a more digital and data-driven organization, supported by a modern IT infrastructure and a strong performance culture, is underway but not yet complete. The Director of Finance & Risk plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of these transformative shifts. In this role, you will also serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Management Board and business management teams, aiding in strategy and business considerations as well as project structuring. Enhancing financial management and risk control frameworks is a key focus, establishing the necessary financial discipline within the dynamic market environment our company operates in. You will be a member of the core finance team, engaging regularly with the Executive Management Board, Supervisory Board, Workers Council, as well as various business unit management teams and disciplines within the organization.

Your focus will cover various key areas of the finance organisation, including:

  • Functional areas responsible for reliable and efficient financial accounting & consolidation, including setting up a future-proof reporting strategy in cooperation with relevant managers;
  • Risk policy management and framework for identifying, controlling, monitoring, and reporting financial and commodity risks;
  • Operational Risk Management for maintaining control frameworks and providing insights into risks and mitigation through comprehensive reporting;
  • Corporate Tax department overseeing the organization's tax strategy and compliance, and managing legal positions during audits and proceedings;
  • Treasury department tasked with optimizing capital structure, liquidity management, and controlling financial risks related to interest rates, currencies, and credit ratings;
  • Insurance management focusing on optimizing risk coverage against premium costs, handling insurance matters at the organizational level.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for the finance transformation and lead the finance transformation by strengthening financial infrastructure, policies, procedures, etc. In order to contribute to the realization of the company’s mission strategy and strengthen its cultural values
  • Responsible to provide relevant, clear, and reliable insights for management control and accountability reporting;
  • Secure affordable and sustainable (leveraged) financing to support the company's strategic objectives;
  • Manage operational and financial risk frameworks to ensure control, predictability, and compliance, supporting the business in balancing value/reward versus risk;
  • Foster close relationships with the CFO, strategic leadership teams, and business management teams;
  • Motivate teams and ensure knowledge across various expertise areas to promote a performance culture within the finance and risk group;
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Your Qualifications:

  • An academic background and post academic certification in accounting, CPA and comprehensive financial profile with proven expertise in international accounting processes, financial and business controlling, treasury, international tax, and (financial) risk management;
  • Over 15 years of experience in senior, decision making, financial management roles within an international context;
  • Digital savviness and a champion for digital optimization within finance and business;
  • Strong social and managerial skills, including the ability to inspire, lead change, deliver results, exercise strong leadership, proactive stakeholder management, and effective communication and influencing skills;
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting, experience managing shared service centers and financial processes.
  • Familiarity with financial markets.
