You and your job

Working as an Solution Architect in Area ‘Banking-as-a-Service’, you play a crucial role in defining, shaping and implementing the technical architecture for SD Connect as an API provider for our third party customers. Of course everything aligned according to the architectural principles we adhere.

You will work in the Banking-as-a-Service area where our day-to-day business focuses on providing applications and services for the external API platform and Developer Portal of SD Connect. We develop everything necessary to provide a smooth API producer and API consumer journey so that API producers (e.g. Payments and Lending within SD Connect) and API consumers (e.g. Bookkeeping systems, e-commerce and big corporates) can easily integrate with each other. We already serving millions of API calls per month. Obviously following the highest standards to ensure a stable and secure connection and happy customers. Besides that, we vigorously improve our services to enable SD Connect to become the best API provider of the Netherlands!

Our area consists of ⚠ multidisciplinary IT squads who bear an end to end responsibility of their products and processes. We do that with an DevOps mindset; You build it, you run it!

In this position you will be the Solution Architect for the squads who are responsible for the services and applications related to API Management, authentication & authorization, consent management and PSD⚠. And of course you’ll step in and support the Architecture team wherever possible. You’re not part of a squad itself, but you guide them on the application architecture you’re responsible for.

Your main responsibilities consists of defining the application architecture, safeguard solution development according to the architecture and work closely together with the DevOps squad to provide knowledge and expertise when needed during implementation.

We have massive growth plans and our architecture needs to be ready for it!

Java, Spring Boot, Cloud Foundry, Azure native, Azure SQL database, Azure AD B⚠C, IBM API Connect, Kong, Angular, TypeScript, Azure CI/CD pipelines, SignalFX, Dynatrace, Splunk

Practical examples

• Together with various stakeholders across different domains you’ll be working on shaping the architecture and roadmap for a Future Proof API Platform.
• You set the architecture, create the Solution Design and guide the squad during implementation for a new OAuth provider application that secures our API’s in the Consent customer journey
• You safeguard and revisit the architecture for Consent customer journey application based on new business requirements
• The Architecture Vision of our Area is being revisited

You and your talent

It’s is important that you are a self-starter, have strong analytical and communication skills and recognize yourself in the checklist below:

• Broad knowledge and experience in the domain of API Management
• Knowledge of IT security concepts and technologies; authorization (OAuth) authentication, encryption, certificates, mTLS, cryptographic protocols, etc.
• Experience in most parts of our tech stack
• Experienced in exploring, describing, aligning and deciding on architecture solutions
• Affinity with architecture modelling, methods and techniques
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; you’re capable to take a step back from the details to oversee and explain the bigger picture
• Strong communication skills; you can tell the Architecture story, listen to teams and persuade whoever needs to be persuaded. Adapts your story and tone of voice to the audience.
• Guts and not afraid to defend your own vision and opinion
• Great sparring partner to Business, IT Delivery and Architecture
• Pro-active attitude; you know what’s happening in the teams and your domain
• A minimum of ⚠ years of relevant experience in solution designing (e.g. in relevant roles like Solution Architect or lead business analyst)
  

It’s a big plus if you also check any of the boxes below:

• Experience in API Management platforms like IBM API Connect, Kong or any other platform
• Experience in building CI/CD pipelines
• Experience in PSD⚠ related services
• Have a background in custom software development
