We are looking for a:

Legal Counsel

32-40 hours per week

As a Legal Counsel, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team of in-house lawyers, advising and supporting legal work relating to a number of high-profile matters. Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel, General Counsel, Heads of Legal and the business, you will assist in complaint management, prepare court cases, draft correspondence and documentation and monitor actions.

What’s your focus

  • Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel regarding managing, monitoring and reporting of cases, including organizing and maintaining case files, preparing legal documents, and coordinating with external counsel.
  • Keeping track, record and ensure appropriate handling of claims and cases.
  • Assisting in responding to claims and cases including document and data production
  • Liaising with various internal stakeholders including local legal teams, customer services and communications.
  • Connecting with relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure an appropriate responses.
  • Drafting relevant memos, correspondence and documentation.
  • Managing together with Legal Operations reporting to stakeholders.
  • Ensuring proper file management and follow-up of actions.

Profile

How you will make a difference

This is you

  • 1-3 years of working experience in a law firm or relevant legal function in a banking or financial services sector.
  • Possesses a Dutch law qualification, possibly supplemented by (international) financial law specialist training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance within the context of court procedures, in particular financial regulation (MiFiD) and/or corporate law.
  • Familiarity with court procedures and protocols, including filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Strong drafting skills for legal documents in Dutch.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in Dutch and English.
  • Thorough and at the same time practical/pragmatic
  • Proactive and hands-on, self-motivated, flexible and independent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good project management skills and handling day to day issues.

This is complemented by:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal legal teams, compliance officers, and other departments to gather information and support.
  • Familiarity with case support tools and technology for document management, e-discovery, and case tracking.
  • Open, communicative person, who likes to think along, easy in sharing knowledge, information and ideas.
  • Analytical thinker, who uses intellect for sound risk assessment and solution-oriented advice, who dares to make decisions, makes choices.
  • Result-oriented, tenacious, hands-on and well organized, even under pressure and in hectic times.
  • Maintains the highest standards of integrity.

The team

There are six different teams under the General Counsel including the local legal teams in different jurisdictions, General Legal Affairs, Products & Services and Corporate Office. You will join a new multi-disciplinary team under the General Counsel. This team will be responsible for the day-to-day support of litigious matters and work together with the local legal teams.
