WittKieffer is honored to announce a new search we have launched with The Brattleboro Retreat for a Vice President, Human Resources. This not-for-profit, specialty mental health facility is located in Brattleboro, Vermont with over $150 million in revenues, 500 staff, and 140 licensed beds. They provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment psychiatric services for individuals of all ages. Nationally recognized in the field of psychiatry, the Brattleboro Retreat was founded in 1834 and today offers a high quality, individualized comprehensive continuum of care.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources will provide HR leadership supporting all areas of the Retreat, collaborating with senior leadership and frontline management across the full range of HR issues. Serving as a strategic partner to the CEO, this executive will manage an HR staff of 12 and must foster a team approach to problem solving. This VP, HR must have extraordinary skills when it comes to recruitment, professional development, and employee retention.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced healthcare or behavioral health human resources leader with at least 10 years relevant experience, including experience in a union environment. This individual must bring strategic vision to the role, along with proven success setting a course of action and leading the organization through transformational change that result in a more efficient, collaborative organization. Communication skills and the ability to earn credibility by meeting with and listening to all levels will be crucial. This is a tremendous opportunity to revitalize the HR model for a growing, evolving, and dynamic organization and to ensure that Human Resources is a strategic, value-add partner across the Brattleboro Retreat.
