Risk Manager - Risk Governance and Sustainability Risk

As risk manager, you will provide global expertise on Risk Governance and Sustainability Risk. You will provide expertise and leadership across the Group to develop and embed enterprise risk standards in practice and prepare risk reports to Aegon's Board of Directors. You will work on projects related to risk governance and sustainability risk. Such projects can include emerging risk assessments, policy attestation processes, embedding sustainability risk in our global risk appetite and in our risk policies, and structuring, coordinating, and executing climate risk assessments.

You will further support oversight on special projects and promote a strong risk culture throughout the organization. Your contribution will help Aegon to deliver successful outcomes covering a range of risk projects driven by strategic priorities or the regulatory change agenda.

You will form sustainable, productive relationships and work closely with key stakeholders across the organization, including the Regional Risk teams, to embed a risk aware culture, as strong risk governance as well as ensuring risk processes are effectively implemented and reported regularly.

You will work in a team of highly skilled professionals. The responsibilities of team include: Maintain and support effective implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, which includes annual policy attestation, and emerging risk analysis. Deliver on sustainability risk projects. Coordinate and enhance global risk reports. Take part in and oversee cross-departmental risk projects, working with specialists in Financial, Actuarial & Underwriting, and Non-Financial & Model Risk Management, both at the group as well as the regional risk teams.

You will report directly to the Risk Officer Risk Governance and Sustainability Risk

Requirements

As risk manager, you are a dedicated team player with a hands-on mentality, you are result oriented and adhere to set deadlines. You have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical stakeholders. You have proven influencing and relationship leadership skills, and you are able to challenge conventional practices and pursue continuous improvement. You have an excellent practical understanding of and experience with enterprise risk management, risk governance and sustainability risk.

You have the following qualifications: Master's degree in finance, economics or a relevant sustainability related study. Several years of experience in enterprise risk management / risk governance / sustainability risk management. Strong understanding of risk practices at a financial institution, including experience in the development and implementation of risk policies. Ability to develop and/or apply new concepts and demonstrate career self-reliance. Strong problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and accurate worker. Good communication and relationship management skills. Experience in an international corporate setting desirable. Proficiency in English (both written and oral). Focused on excellence and delivery, resilient and able to work with many and multifaceted results. Good sense of humor

Compensation levels depend upon an applicant's qualifications and will be determined by hiring manager and HR. You will be able to work from home and in the office. You are entitled to 210,5 hours holiday per year and 17 hours for work life balance and you can buy up to 143 hours of additional holiday hours; Every 5 years you have the opportunity to go on partially paid sabbatical leave for two months.
