up to 5.506 gross a month Within these three impact areas, there are individual teams that work on specific topics. Under global health, there are three teams including sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), health sector strengthening (HSS) and epidemiology (EPI). Under economic development, there are two teams including impact economics (IE) and food and agriculture businesses (FAB). Under gender equality, the gender team is the main team and they work closely with SRHR which also sits under global health. In addition to the research and advisory focused team, the KI also has an education department that runs a Master’s in global public health and health equity and a variety of short-courses in gender equality, global health, and economic development. The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for efficient and effective operational processes in the Knowledge Institute and will be the single most important point of interaction between the KI and supporting departments consisting of IT, finance (including the project office and project administration), human resources, and marketing & communications. The Operations Manager will report to the Managing Director of the Knowledge Institute and works in close collaboration with the seven Team Leads who supervise the teams noted above. Together, the OM, the MD and the Team Leads constitute the leadership team of the KI. The OM also joins the KIT management team representing the KI. Responsibilities

The operations manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth functioning of the KI’s day-to-day operations with a primary responsibility of supporting and optimizing the work of the experts/advisors and the supporting departments. Key tasks and responsibilities for the OM include: Resource Planning and Management: Support the development, monitoring and supervision of the Knowledge Institute budget and resource allocations. Work with the finance team to support the KIT wide budget planning cycle. Work with the MD to ensure planning for and monitoring of resources for all KI-wide activities including retreats, management training, external events, publications, etc. The OM will work with the finance team to ensure there is timely and accurate reporting on budget utilization. The OM will also work with the MD and the team leads to support planning for new hires, staff on-boarding, staff development, and safety and security processes, as well as for annual program planning for teams. Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: The OM is responsible for analyzing and improving existing operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness as well as maintain ISO certification. The OM will work with the KI leadership team to identify bottlenecks, streamline procedures, and implement process improvements and best practices to optimize productivity and quality and drive the Institute’s operational excellence. Of special attention will be process optimization for all forms of resource mobilization, including the KI’s procurement processes (in response to formal RfPs), fundraising for institutional grants (unsolicited), and coordination with the fundraising team on individual giving. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: The OM analyzes existing metrics and where applicable amends and/or introduces performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor the performance of the KI. The OM will monitor and report on overall KI performance and team level performance, as may be required; Coordination and Collaboration: The OM enables effective communication and collaboration between different departments and teams within the institute. This means promoting a culture of teamwork and facilitating knowledge sharing, ensuring that experts and support staff work together seamlessly to achieve common goals, (co-)organize internal (and external) meetings, coordinate and support in relationship management, procurement with finance and business development personnel, etc); Risk Management: The OM identifies potential risks in project management, partnerships and reputation, among other risks, and develops strategies to mitigate them. This entails pro-actively addressing operational challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain smooth operations. About you

At least a Master’s degree in international relations, organizational development, finance, business or a related field; Prior work experience in operations, preferably with an international organization; The ability to communicate complex processes and decisions in a clear and persuasive manner; Prior experience working for a knowledge organization, think tank, university, or related entity; Prior track record in managing and supervising business development and resource mobilization processes, including familiarity with international donors (bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, etc); Strong (project) management skills and operational knowledge and experience; Thorough understanding of business models similar to KIT’s and what drives them; A team player who brings people together at all levels;. Fluent in English; Dutch language is not required but will be considered an additional asset. What do we offer?
