Chief Nursing Officer

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) located in Utica, New York seeks a highly collaborative, engaging, and progressive leader to serve as its next Chief Nursing Officer. The CNO is a highly visible executive who will oversee the assessment, planning, and implementation of the nursing practice across the organization, ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate care delivery, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care. With 3500 full-time employees, MVHS serves the geographic area of Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties and in October 2023 MVHS opened its brand new state-of-the-art integrated health campus comprised of the flagship, Wynn Hospital, a 373-bed, 702,000-square-foot facility and 1,550-car parking structure on 25 acres in downtown Utica. This transformational project has impacted how healthcare is delivered to the communities as well as supports the revitalization of downtown Utica and the area. Given its size, charitable mission, and role as a major employer, MVHS is an organizational pillar in Utica and the region. The ideal candidate will be masterful in leading through influence and partnering to drive clinical and care delivery transformation across MVHS. This role requires an authentic, high-energy, emotionally intelligent leader as well as an expert facilitator to build active partnerships with clinical, physician, and health system leadership and champion quality initiatives across departments. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years of progressive senior-level nursing experience with a successful record of operational and strategic nursing experience developing high-performing teams.
