What you'll be doing: Reporting to the Vice President, US Chief AML Officer & Global Sanctions, the Senior Director, US AML Governance & Advisory leads the US AML Governance and Advisory teams.The Governance team supports the design and execution of the US AML governance framework, providing information to support management and board oversight, risk reporting, policy and procedure documentation, and training. Advisory is responsible for advising and supporting all regulatory requirements relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF) and Economic Sanctions by the US lines of business (LoBs) and functional groups across three different financial services units (commercial/retail banking, wealth management, and capital markets). The Senior Director, US AML Governance & Advisory, leads the teams charged with providing AML risk consultation and oversight of AML/ATF compliance, internal controls, and implementation of process and initiatives to ensure compliance.The Senior Director, US AML Governance & Advisory, is also responsible for monitoring and analyzing regulatory change related to AML/ATF requirements and serves as a subject matter expert for complex business initiatives, including the development of new products, services, and other change management initiatives.The Senior Director, US AML Governance & Advisory, regularly interacts with risk and line of business stakeholders in the US and across the Enterprise and serves as a senior member of the US AML Department with responsibility for regulatory communications, annual planning and strategic initiatives. How you'll succeed: Evaluate design and oversee execution of the Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing (ML/TF) Risk Assessment measuring inherent risk associated with customer portfolios, products, services, geographies, and delivery channels in connection with the combined US operations (CUSO). Assess existing control framework against risks, deliver program enhancement recommendations, and leverage the risk assessment results to drive the risk-based program adjustments. Develop, implement and manage US AML standards, procedures, internal controls, and training to support a US AML Compliance Program commensurate with the risks and regulatory expectations for CIBC’s CUSO. Create and implement an Advisory engagement model to ensure consistency of practice and alignment of design/execution across three financial services segments in the US, providing AML/ATF advice and counsel to the LoBs and functional groups you support through developing a strong understanding of their products, services, operations, controls and processes. Oversee delivery of a robust, risk-based AML training program, inclusive of content review, needs assessment, and ongoing curriculum assessment. Manage Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) implementation from maintenance of the regulatory inventory, conducting regulatory risk assessment, identify key controls, assess key control testing results to inform effectiveness, and monitor regulatory change. Understand the LoB and functional group’s exposure to potential money laundering and terrorist financing risks based on its client types, product/service offerings and operations and the controls and processes to mitigate such risks. Provide effective leadership and influence LoB and functional group partners across the US to support a strong AML compliance program, and serve as a strong and effective People Leader within US AML and across the broader US Risk Management and Enterprise AML teams to drive employee commitment and collaboration to achieve AML program objectives. Develop strong relationships with LoB and functional group leaders and employees to ensure effective communication and awareness necessary to support an effective AML/ATF compliance program. Support execution of divisional strategies, business and functional group-led strategic initiatives, and other large-scale projects to align with risk management framework including identification, mitigation and reporting of appropriate ML/TF and Sanctions risks. Who you are:

10+ years of AML compliance or related risk experience, preferably with a large financial institution. Working knowledge of US AML laws and regulations and strong understanding of banking, wealth management and capital markets products and services and the associated AML risks. Bachelor’s degree in related field (i.e., finance, accounting, statistics, law); preference for advanced degree (i.e., MBA or JD). Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications, and leadership skills to effectively manage people and develop team members. Ability to build and maintain working relationships with all levels of management across the organization and external stakeholders. Ability to manage workload and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a dynamic and rapidly-changing environment. ACAMS certification preferred. At CIBC, our people are our greatest asset.
