Senior Director, Global Corporate Accounts

POSITION SUMMARY:

At the Rainforest Alliance we are looking for an experienced Senior Director to lead and further build out our Global Business Development capability. The Rainforest Alliance 2030 strategy is ambitious and requires us to further develop our network of corporate partners in order to strengthen our impact. By working more closely with our corporate partners in addition to building new relationships we will activate new market opportunities, producer impact, investment mobilization and citizen activation to accelerate our mission. This position will play a pivotal role in making our strategy a reality and strengthening and growing our trusted and highly valued partnerships with businesses. The Senior Director, Global Corporate Accounts reports to the newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer. As a leader, the Senior Director will be responsible for providing clear direction and support for the entire business development and account management teams. As we move forward into a more agile Rainforest Alliance, our leaders will be at the forefront of innovating what and how to deliver impact as well as how we support our partners to grow whilst doing so.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement the organisational strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share;

Lead and manage the entire business development team (circa 30), ensuring they meet performance goals, regularly reporting to the Executive Team on results and new opportunity areas;

Analyse global market trends and customer insights to identify new business opportunities across products and projects;

Cultivate strong relationships with key clients together with investing in building new relationships with potential partners;

Track and report on sales performance, and sales metrics related to certified products and assess opportunity areas for other offerings including project work;

Report regularly using real data and analytics to guide strategic decisions and sales planning;

Provide (thought) leadership in consultative selling and business engagement. Coach the team in translating the suite of offerings to clients’ needs and building a convincing narrative on the value we provide;

Collaborate with other departments to sync go-to-market strategy with our suite of offerings or innovation pipeline.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor/Master degree level qualification;

At least 15 years of proven experience in account management working with multiple global accounts and leading senior staff globally, (whilst experience in a similar NGO is ideal, it is not essential)

Strong people skills, high accountability, motivational, and directional;

Strong negotiation skills and the ability to both build and foster customer relationships;

Good understanding of sustainable market dynamics and consumer and customer needs, behaviors, and expectations;

At least 5 years of experience performing in a global business unit and with P&L responsibilities;

Extensive experience with complex sales, relationship building, corporate affairs or marketing;

Consistent track record in leading complex sales processes, external engagement, high-level stakeholder management and representing an organization in a multi- stakeholder environment;

Enterprise and servant leadership with consistent track record of collaboration and teamwork. Confirmed experience in leading teams through change;

Demonstrated track record of effective partnerships at global level to build joint initiatives;

Extensive knowledge of the corporate ESG investment space;

Knowledge and understanding of voluntary certification programs;

Ideally working knowledge of international commodity supply chains, for example; , coffee, cocoa, palm oil, fruits, and forest products;

Experience facilitating industry collaboration, cross-sector coalition building, and systems change methodologies;

Key competencies: sales, transformational leadership, analytical ability, innovation, adaptability, persuasion, critical and reflective thinking, public speaking, resourcefulness, relationship builder based on trust, empathy and openness, and strong organizational skills to lead multiple priorities in a time critical manner;

Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, written and verbal proficiency in English is required;

Ability to travel.
