Front-End Engineer CSS and Sass

Daily 8 million customers log in to Rabobank on their mobile device or desktop to ensure their financial wellbeing and growth. They expect stable and frictionless journeys to support their daily financial business or huge decisions like buying a home or expending their business. This is where you will make the difference with your squad. A responsibility with impact, that you shape as Front-End Engineer with the Rabobank Design System of Area Foundation. We are looking for an addition to our design system team. We work on a style and component library that serves as the foundation for countless Rabobank front-end features. Developers rely on us to deliver a stable collection of performant and accessible styles and web components that reflect the Rabobank brand. You and your job Rabo Online Platform is an internal platform that provides services for 150+ feature squads that build functionalities for our customers in our digital channels, towards consumers, business users and public sites. These services make sure squads can build their feature in an easy and compliant way. Within our Area Foundation the ‘foundation’ services are built for the Rabo Online Platform, or in other words: the services to provide the technical development stack. Among these services is our frontend visual/UI components system that brings the Rabobank Design System alive. The Design System is the Frontend accelerator of Rabobank. We offer guides, design tokens, components, patterns, and support to design and build frontend quickly and in line with the Rabobank standards and principles. The team enables feature-squads to use the latest technologies and designs without having to worry about implementation. All efforts will result in a consistent, accessible, and user-centric experience for the costumers using digital Rabobank-products.

You and your squad The team (named Mosaic) is a tight-knit team, consisting of open-minded and experienced professionals. We are all equals, and highly value each other’s opinions when making decisions. We are customer-focused and think about how our decisions impact the bigger picture—for both the customer and Rabobank. We collaborate closely with UX and Design to ensure our product is the best that it can be.

Practical Examples: Creating an accessible and user-friendly web component for our 150+ feature teams. Collaborating with Design and other stakeholders to prepare stories for upcoming sprints.

Top 3 responsibilities Topic Ownership: Within our team, we assign topics to individual members, such as accessibility (a11y), internationalisation (i18n), and deprecations. As a topic owner, your responsibility is to prepare the necessary work to complete the assigned topic. Collaboration: Our team operates on a democratic and informal basis, without a hierarchical structure. We make decisions collectively, valuing feedback and open discussions. As a team, we determine the direction to take and effectively communicate our decisions to the outside world, even if individual members may have differing opinions. Ensuring Quality: We prioritise maintaining high-quality standards. Instead of rushing to release a feature prematurely. We prefer to take the time to consider legacy issues, consistent API and backward compatibility. We are willing to delay the implementation of a feature to prevent potential problems down the line. Together we achieve more than alone We believe in the power of difference. Especially by combining the diversity of people we become a better bank.
