Our client, an established and very busy dealership in Mpumalanga is seeking to employ a Workshop Quality Controller / Workshop Foreman (Automotive Quality Controller) that is self-motivated, friendly, and hardworking. Position: Workshop Quality Controller / Workshop Foreman Industry: Automotive Location: Mpumalanga Salary: Market Related / Incentives / Provident Fund Contribution

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Valid South African Driver’s License. Senior Certificate. Motor Mechanic Trade Test Certificate. VW Diagnostic Certification beneficial.

SKILLS: Excellent communication skills. Able to take instructions and complete tasks. Work Independently. Take initiative without overstepping boundaries.

EXPERIENCE: In a Corporate Dealership – Min 5+ years. Diagnostic Systems: VAS. Dealer Programs: SAGA, I-Partner, Evolve. VW Warranty.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to perform various tasks such as: Workshop Quality Controller: To assist service reception when a vehicle is to be tested with a customer before it enters the workshop and inspect new vehicles. To assist with “small, waiting” repairs and help in getting the issue resolved it can be done quickly. To ensure workshop always stays neat and tidy and to control the workshop cleaners. To ensure wash bay operates efficiently and to control was bay staff. Check that work carried out on vehicle correspondents with work requested on job card. Carry out road tests to confirm that work requested had been completed correctly. Liaise with workshop foreman and technicians on failed road tests. Together with the foreman test each vehicle properly Sign off job card timeously when satisfied that all work has been carried out correctly. Monitor number of failed road tests and discuss possible action plans with Service Manager and Workshop Foreman. Go out on minor breakdowns, ensuring the safety of the On Call vehicle and equipment. Move completed vehicles to the wash-bay for cleaning. Assist in moving vehicles from wash-bay and parking them in a known location for collection. Assist in moving vehicles into the workshop at the end of the day. Assist in moving vehicles out of the workshop in the mornings. Assist in preparing loan vehicles ready for customers. Carry out road tests with customers. Cross departmental disciplines. Workshop Foreman: Minor and Major Services. Engine Remove and replace. Engine Strip & Assemble. Gearbox Remove & Replace. Braking Systems. Steering. Suspension. Differentials. Electrical Diagnostics. Mechanical Diagnostics. WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING: TEAM PRODUCTIVITY. Ensure that team productivity and efficiency meet agreed group standards. Plan staff leave, training and other ‘non-productive’ time correctly in order to minimize effect on productivity. Motivate team members to produce best results. Ensure correct ‘loading’ of workshop hours. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION: Ensure customer needs are attended to and actioned. Maintain a ‘first time right’ policy for repairs. Improve and maintain customer service index percentages to agreed standards. Analyse accurately customer needs and action accordingly. Provide accurate quotations when required. Ensure that customers are aware of payment procedures. Establish authorization for extra work. Fill out job cards in full and correctly. Protect customers’ property. Utilize all necessary customer satisfaction skills. Ensure that vehicles are tested properly after work is complete. INTERNAL LIAISON AND COMMUNICATION Liaise with Parts Department to ensure timeous availability of parts. Communicate effectively with other departments, staff, and manufacturer to enhance customer satisfaction index and ensure that all communication is open and honest. TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND ‘HOUSEKEEPING’ Ensure that all tools are kept in good condition and are used correctly. Ensure that correct technical information is available and used. Comply with OHS Act and always ensure that work areas are clean and tidy.
